The Best Christmas Villages on the Internet

Saturday, November 4, 2023

It’s that time of year where your home gets transformed from everyday to extraordinary. Lights, garlands, tiny villages and greenery rule the day. I”m going to share with you a few of my favorite Christmas villages that can make a big impression, ranging from pricey to affordable.

First up is my favorite mid-century modern inspired solid walnut holiday houses from Hauskaa, a small company in Vermont. I personally own one of the modern villages and a few trees (made from baseball bats of all things) and utterly adore the sleek, minimalist look. These aren’t cheap but have an heirloom quality that can be enjoyed for generations, and I think they’re worth the investment. The owner Ann is an utter gem and sends along little surprise treats for repeat customers. These can also be found on Etsy.

Next up is Crate and Barrel who seem to always have something up their sleeve during the holidays. These clay houses are handmade and each one is unique (however do be on the look-out for malformed pieces, there are quite a few. I would recommend picking up in store if possible.). I love that these can be lit from within and glow merrily on the sideboard. Every year a few new pieces are added and this year’s holiday row houses are a fun addition.

Finally let’s not forget Costco, with their reasonable prices and reliable quality. This set is similar to the Crate and Barrel houses but less bespoke, and a fraction of the price. This entire set can be purchased for $80, while some of the others in this list are four times the cost for a similar amount of pieces. Cute and jolly, these houses will look wonderful on the mantle.
